El Portal is UPG's first Residential Chapter.

The Missions of UPG El Portal are:
* Community Science and Education
* Transform El Portal into a Certified Wildlife Habitat
* Operate Nurseries for free plants and trees
* Urban Gardening

UPG was invited by the Village of El Portal to transform the El Portal Nature Trail into a truly natural experience.

Since no funding was available, step 1 is to grow the plants. Nurseries are located in back yards.
